Welcome to Movelle Primary School!

My name is Karen Wood, and I’m proud to be the principal of Movelle Primary School. As a mother of two adult children, aged 25 and 22, I know firsthand how important it is for every child to have the best start in life and enriching school experiences. My passion for creating an exciting school environment drives my commitment to the success and wellbeing of every student at Movelle.

Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to share my insights on education and wellbeing both nationally and internationally. I hold a Master’s degree in Educational leadership (inclusive Education) and I've been a proud Principal Class member since 2009. 

Our school has been recognised for its focus on wellbeing, having won awards for our work in this area, including achieving Gold status in School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) for the past 3 years.  (One of only two schools in Victoria.)

I'm also proud of our strong NAPLAN results. Our 2024 results showed the impressive progress and excellent high growth in reading and numeracy of our students compared to similar schools and the state of Victoria.

I strongly believe in giving every child the opportunity to succeed and experience all the joys that school life has to offer. At Movelle, we create an inclusive, supportive and engaging environment for our students to thrive in all aspects of their education.

As a principal, I value an open door policy. I am present, active and involved in our school community and I encourage parents and caregivers to visit, engage and be part of our adventure. We’re better together and we can ensure that every student is given the chance to be their best.
